Suckers for anything on HBO

Yeah, we're suckers, but we did decide that we are giving The Bill Paxton's Ass Show through tonight's episode to really grab us, or it's back to just The Sopranos for the remainder of this spring. The show has been OK, but hasn't wowed us yet. There's potential in the relationship with the cult headed by the extremly creepy Harry Dean Stanton, but it seems like they're really trying hard to make it as much about sex as possible. (This wouldn't be so bad if there wasn't quite so much of the aforementioned Bill Paxton's Ass.)

Anyway HBO, you have tonight to wow us. Sopranos, I was not impressed by the episode last Sunday, but you know that I will keep watching. Let's pick it up this week though, OK?

Stormy

Yeah, apparently we had some storms in town yesterday. We got our first tornado siren at about 8:30AM yesterday, then more in the afternoon, then the emergency alert system kicked in during the season premiere of The Sopranos. (Speaking of which, I'm not sure who puts out the audio feeds for the emergency alert system, but whoever does it for Time Warner Cable really needs to rethink that. The computer generated voice plays far too slowly and sounds like the voice of Satan himself.)

Apparently about 60% of the buildings at KU took damage and at least some of the bars near campus took damage. I don't know what that means for tonight's Of Montreal show, but I guess we're going to double check with the Bottleneck before we head over to Lawrence.

A Walk

Last night, Bex and were out on a walk with Harry, and we took a different route than we normally do, walking through the nearby high school. On the way back, we took a different route into our subdivision. This side of the subdivision is mainly townhomes, my side is almost all single family homes. About halfway down the street we walked by a dog chained in his front yard. This dog was whining and panting so badly we had to double back and take a closer look at him. As we approached, his whining increased, and he seemed to try to stand up, but seemed unable to use his rear legs.

At first I assumed that maybe he had been injured in the front yard, so we tried knocking on the door of the townhome where he was tied up. The front door to the unit was open, but there was a glass storm door closed. I knocked on the door, and when there was no answer Bex tried the doorbell. Still no answer.

Now standing in front of this townhouse with its main door open, I was able to peer into the house. It looked like the home of somebody who just might leave their dying dog in their front yard because they didn't like the sound if its whining. I'm not a neat freak, but this house was a mess. Tools, trash, boxes and more trash were strewn all over the inside of the house, it was just a horrible mess.

Still not hearing anybody inside the house, we headed home wondering if there was anything we should do. The dog was just so obviously in pain it had to be seen by a vet or put down. Finally we decided that the best thing to do would be to call Animal Control. I'm not sure what jurisdiction they have over an animal restrained on somebody's front lawn, but I assume they would know the right thing to do. It was just heartbreaking to see that poor thing out laying out there in the cold, seemingly dying. I'll drive by there on the way home this evening, but even if he isn't there, I'm not sure what that says.

Some people can just be fuckers.

Still Not Dead

Two Jobs = Not much time for blogging. I'm back down to a reasonable one job now, so in theory I have more time to post, but I'm still catching up on a horrific backlog of things to do around the house. Hope to be back soon.

Also, rumors of Arrested Development being picked up by Showtime are flying willy-nilly. Awesome.
